How Journaling Improves My Planning | Collab with Laura from HowtoGYST

I will never turn down the opportunity to collaborate with one of the smartest people I’ve ever met, Laura Hutchinson from HowToGYST.

Her video will show you how she uses two apps and two books to make everything happen. I can not WAIT to watch this video! Watch it now!

My part of our collaboration is how journaling has improved my planning. I started journaling a lot more last summer, and I’ve noticed some pretty big differences in how I view planning.

#onebookjuly2014 Wrap-Up

#onebookjuly2014 Wrap-Up

Like most of you, I can’t believe July has come and gone. One Book July taught me some pretty valuable lessons.

  1. Hitting the Reset Button is a very good thing. Starting from simple scratch reminds me of how my brain works, what my brain needs, and what I’ve been forgetting to do. Which leads to…
  2. Frequent Brain Dumping is an absolute Must. Regardless of how organized my planner is, if I don’t go back to basics every few days, with just a piece of paper and a pen, and get everything out of my head, my organized planner is ineffective.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed One Book July, and not only for my own reasons as listed above. Seeing everyone’s creativity has been incredibly inspiring. Several people commented about how freeing it was to go back to basics and remind themselves what all of this is about to begin with.

Please show everyone what you’ve learned from One Book July by continuing to use the hashtag #onebookjuly2014!

August 2014 Planner Setup – DIYFish MTN v2.2 in Narrow Creme Brulee Fauxdori

It’s going to feel a bit odd using a larger notebook after a month of the smaller book from #onebookjuly2014, but I’m ready. July was the perfect month to explore the use of a smaller format; however, the end of the month has brought with it a few fairly large projects, one rather long-term project, and the Busy that comes with preparing for the new school year. Fortuitous timing!

#onebookjuly2014 – Week 3 Update

Wow, this last week, especially that last three days, has been… Wow. I’m a little stressed out.

However, my setup did not fail me! I didn’t miss any appointments, I didn’t forget any plans the kids had made, and I didn’t forget any tasks!
